Possible to capture a screenshot / current Program Monitor output as image?

From an Extension, I'm hoping to capture the current Program Monitor view as a screenshot/image/base64 encoded string.

Is that at all possible?

I've found the sample code which opens the Media Encoder window, however I'd really just like to capture the current view and get access to it via a javascript variable.
