IDEA: create a facade or adaptor to iris cubes?

Use this to store additional custom data for processing?
Use facade in testing to decouple from direct iris use?
- Use the facade to provide a simpler interface for data access
- Customise exceptions from the interface
- Should help with testing as dependencies are reduced / can fake things behind the interface without mimicking cubes
Do something similar for mule?
