Enable/disable auto-whisper on a per search basis #195
Comments
FYI, auto-whisper is not part of this tool, it just places things on the clipboard. But to disable this on a per-search basis makes sense. |
What auto whispers then? I remember it auto whispering before, and now it doesn't do that anymore, I would like to enable it back somehow, if possible. |
there was never auto whisper. its auto copy the text and we have to manually whisper in the game. |
I just wanted to update on the mysterious auto-whisper "functionality" I was experiencing. It turned out to be an interaction between poe-live-search-manager and another tool, POE Lurker, a fairly popular third party tool for helping manage trade requests in-game. POE Lurker has an auto-whisper feature, I believe it is on by default, and is perhaps a relic of when the trade site did not automatically whisper in game directly from the website. This functionality of POE Lurker seems to also interact with the "Copy whisper messages to the clipboard" functionality of poe-live-search-manager Therefore if you have all 3 of the following are true:
Then any results poe-live-search-manager returns will result in a trade whisper automatically sent to the player. This explains my initial confusion when making this feature request. No real additional point to this comment beyond highlighting this interaction, it may be of some small interest. Note that this arrangement, while sometimes beneficial as it provides even more automation can also be very difficult to manage and I do not recommend it unless you have just a few searches, all with extremely strict criteria. |
Use case
At the moment all searches result in auto-whispering the seller immediately when a matching item is returned.
For some items you can create a specific enough search that you wish to buy all of that item. In this case auto-whispering sellers is very helpful.
For other items you can create a general search for items of interest but need to inspect them individually to see if you want to buy them. In this case it would be better not to auto-whisper the seller and only be notified of the item for you to inspect manually.
Possible solution(s)
Toggle auto-whisper functionality on/off for each search query.
